The Picture that Started it All!

I was filled with excitement and anticipation today sitting in my cubicle waiting for 5:30 to arrive.  After all, the painter had been at the house since 9 AM painting the nursery and I had not seen how the paint I chose looked on the wall!  I rushed home, greeted my puppies, and jolted into Millie's room to check out the color.  And I must say, I should work for Home Depot as a color consultant!  The paint turned out exactly how I hoped it would!  Before I show you the room, I must show you the picture that led to the inspiration for Millie's nursery.  I have no idea where I found it months ago, but it's been saved onto my computer for some time.
Little slice of heaven...

I understand it's not a nursery but I fell in love with this classic, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" theme and I knew right away that I had to create something similar for my mini Audrey Hepburn!

Back to the nursery...

After months of comparing paint samples, I finally chose THE ONE yesterday.  That's right, one day before the painter was coming.  Yikes!  Although it was a last minute decision, I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.  I went with paint from the Disney Pooh Collection with the color so appropriately named "Pooh's Favorite Things."  Here is the room with the paint.  It never looks just right in the picture but trust me, it is almost identical to my inspiration photo!

I'm in love!

It's so refreshing and it really brightens the room!  Ok, so after I admired the room, I decided to lay out the rug and set out the side table that I already had packed up just waiting to be placed in the room.

The rug is from Potter Barn Teen

The mirrored table, lamp, and vase are from Target

It feels so great to finally get some progress going on her room!  Now, the dresser is being painted to match the crib (which I won't get until late July) and should be in the room by the end of the week.  Her bedding should arrive on the 14th and I can't wait to see it!  I had it custom made at http://www.modpeapod.com/.  The lady who owns this company is out of New York and makes custom bedding at affordable prices.  I was SO excited that I found her!  Millie's bedding is completely custom and it has touches of pastel pink to give the room more color.  I can't wait to see it!

As more items arrive and are placed in the room I will be sure to give updates.  Thanks to my husband Trevor for coordinating the painter and allowing me to have complete (well, almost complete) freedom to move forward with my vision.  A little hesitant about the pink, but I have assured him that this will be a room even he can be proud to show off to his friends.  :)
