So.... today is one of my best friend's birthdays. Happy Birthday Rachel!! She and her husband Klint live in downtown Austin and tonight is supposed to be a GREAT evening celebrating with her and her husband and a few of their friends in Austin. First, we're going to Sushi Zushi for dinner, which is my FAVORITE sushi place (minus KOI but we don't have one of those around here), and then hit up The Highball bowling alley for some fun with friends.
To express how excited I was, I updated my Facebook status with our plans for the evening, and have received a couple of comments from other mommas out there stating that bowling is dangerous for pregnant women and that I should call my doctor first. To be honest, I hadn't even considered the fact that bowling could be bad for me. If anything, I was just so excited that there was SOMETHING that I could do! So, just to be safe, I did call my doctor and she said that she "does not recommend it at this point in my pregnancy." Apparently, I could easily tear my abdominal muscles and/or pull something else (down there) that could be dangerous for the baby. BUMMER!!! Can you imagine my disappointment?
To make matters worse, Rachel is pregnant too and just two weeks behind me. I believe she is planning on bowling tonight since it is her birthday party. Of course I'm still planning on going, but I guess just sitting there and watching. I would actually bowl and just be extra careful however, I already told Trevor about what the doctor said so there's no way he will let me bowl. So, do I tell Rachel before we get there that I won't be bowling because of doctor's orders? I don't want to her to second guess her decision to bowl, however I think it is important that she know. But then again, she may already know that she shouldn't bowl but is doing it anyway. She's a little stubborn and I must say that's one of the things I love most about her! :)
Either way it's going to be a fun evening. I just don't want her to get discouraged at her birthday party. Maybe I'll just "grandma roll" the ball down the lane...
