Memorial Weekend Wrap-up

I must say that this Memorial Day weekend was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable weekends ever.  Before I go into details let me preface by saying that this will be my first attempt at posting pictures on the blog so if it turns out all jiggy, I apologize in advance.  :)

After a long day of work, it was very nice to go home and enjoy the company of Trevor, his parents, and my mom who came into town for the weekend.  I cooked chicken picatta with angel hair pasta and everyone seemed to like it.  I really enjoy cooking though I haven't been doing it as much as I used to.  I guess the pregnancy just takes out all my energy during the day to where I don't feel like doing much when I get home.  Luckily Trevor is a great cook and is cooking turkey burgers in the background as I type.  Yum!

Saturday morning my mom and I walked down the street to the sweet little coffee shop that is in my neighborhood, The Gruene Grind.  Living in New Braunfels in the historic district of Gruene there are TONS of places that have Gruene in the name.  We enjoyed some lattes and good conversation.  I found out that she and Mike are talking more seriously about moving to New Braunfels!  Can you imagine my excitement hearing that my mom may move here and we won't have to travel to Houston all the time?  Such great news!

My mom, my godmother Missy and I drove to San Marcos to meet my cousin Berenice and her PRECIOUS 3-month old daughter, Michaela for lunch at the Root Cellar.  Here are some pictures of everyone holding baby Michaela.

Here I am getting some good practice

My mom holding Michaela

After lunch we went over to Missy's lake house at McQueeny for a while and I got to "bob" around in her pool for a bit while she and my mom worked on refinishing a mirror to hang in the house.  I tell you what, being pregnant in the summer is tough but put me in a pool with a float and I'm a happy camper!  We then met up with my sister who came to spend time with us and went up to the Harley shop (where Trevor is the general manager) and enjoyed watching the South Texas Beer Pong Throwdown.  This was only one of the MANY events that Trevor throws at the dealership.  He's quite the marketing guru!  It was neat to see all the people there and watch Trevor in action.  He's the hardest worker I've ever seen.  I learn so much from him everyday!

Sisters!

Saturday night was pretty laid back for my mom and me.  We stayed in and relaxed while Adriane and Trevor enjoyed the UFC fight at the dealership.  They had it broadcasted on the side of the building and it was open to the public.  This is another one of the MANY events Trevor throws.

Sunday was a lazy day that consisted of movies on a pallet in the living room with Trevor and Adriane.  Although Sunday night Adriane and I went to the movies and saw Sex & the City 2 which was awesome.  I love the fashion!

Monday has been the best day of the weekend I must say!  Trevor and I woke up and went to the Red Rooster Cafe for breakfast and I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes.  Don't they look scrumptious?  They definitely were!

We then took our two yorkies, Ellie and Max out to Trevor's parents' house to enjoy their swimming pool.  We put a life jacket on Ellie and Max but they were not big fans of the water although Max did get on the float with me.  Here are pictures of Max swimming and then floating with me.  Pay no attention to the mountain on my stomach!

Go Max Go!

I'm not diggin' this mom!

I'm in heaven but Max...not so much...

Now we are at home.  Max is laying to the right of me on the couch while Ellie is on her perch on the top of the chair.  My sweet husband is cooking what smells to be an amazing dinner.  I couldn't ask for a better end to an awesome Memorial Day weekend.  I hope all of your weekends were wonderful.  Back to reality tomorrow but until then....Happy Memorial Day!!

Special Thanks

Wow!  I must say that I am so very excited about our family blog!  A very special thanks goes out to Lauren Salguero, my friend at work, for creating the adorable background and title artwork.  I absolutely LOVE it!

It's now 4:08 PM and I am waiting as the time is inching by as 5:30 can't get here fast enough.  My beautiful mother is coming in town tonight for Memorial Day weekend and Trevor and I are hosting dinner for her and his parents at our house.  I will make chicken picatta meander with angel hair pasta.  Sounds delicious, right?  I hope it turns out great.

My sister, Adriane, is coming to see us tomorrow and I'm excited to spend some time with her too.  Having to live in a different city as your family is definitely tough but makes it all the more special each time I see them.  We plan to have a very nice, relaxing Memorial Day weekend that may include hanging out at my Godmother's lake house on McQueeny, Sex and the City 2 Saturday night, church Sunday morning and a river float in the afternoon.  Look out everyone, pregnant lady in a bikini on the Comal!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Trying Something Different

Hello family and friends!

If you are reading this then you have been invited to become a follower of the Bird family blog!  I must say that I have no idea what I'm doing but I hope to find out fast.  I will eventually have a cute, customized background but until I figure out how to do that, we're stuck with this generic one.

You all know that Trevor and I are expecting a baby around September 8 and I thought a blog would be a great way to keep our family and close friends updated on the everyday adventures of our new family.  I have some great friends who have precious blogs and I love how they each capture milestones in their children's lives from their first smile to the first step and so on and so on.  This is something I desire to capture myself with our daughter.

Trevor and I are very blessed to have such wonderful family and friends and we thank God everyday for all of you.  This blog will be kept private to the public but each of you will have full access!

We love you all!

I hope my next post will come with a jazzy background.... I HOPE!
