Rub a Dub Dub - Millie's first Bath

Well, first bath in her whale tub with soap.  We've been giving her sponge baths since birth but now that her cord fell off, we can give her real baths now.  Here's how it went...

Getting ready...
 ...not sure I'm liking this...
 ...DEFINITELY not liking this!...
 ...this feels good Mommy...
 ...it's not so bad...
 ...I'm one happy baby!

Happy One Month Birthday Millie!!

Her one month birthday was actually yesterday, October 3rd, but I was so busy I couldn't get around to updating the blog.  Anyway, I can not believe that my precious angel is already one month old.  Everyone tells me, "Enjoy every second because they grow up so fast."  They were not exagerating!  I have spent every moment with her and loved every second of it.  The crying, sleepless nights, gas, poopy diapers, all of it; I wouldn't trade it for the world.  However, it's crazy to me to think that she's changed so much in just one month.  I hardly remember when she was a newborn!  She's so different now!

At one month, Millie can already hold her head up, focus her eyes on me and anyone else in her view, during tummy time move her head from side to side (she was doing this at two weeks!), and is making cooing sounds.

She is easily over nine pounds now, her eyes are turning brown (I think), she sleeps ok during the night (about every three hours or so), loves being on her tummy, hates her car seat, hates bathtime at first then she loves it, loves her classical nursery rhymes, has chunky cheeks, has a half inny/half outy belly button, long fingers and toes, and is in between a newborn size and a three month size.  She's growing fast!

This past Sunday was my little cousin, Ryan Rubio's, baptism in Goliad.  this was Millie's and my first road trip together!  We left for Goliad Saturday morning and Millie slept the whole way.  I was very worried that I would have to pull over on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere to feed her, but no!  She did great!  We got to Mimi and Papa's house at around 12:30 and Pop was so excited to see his Millie.  He got in some great grandpa time.

Baby's crying, time to go...

8 Questions

So for some reason I am just now seeing Alyssa's 8 questions blog post and I haven't responded yet!  Here are her questions and my answers:

1. Who are your top 2 celebrity style favorites?  Victoria Beckham and Rachel Zoe

2. What do you collect, if anything?  Crosses for my cross wall

3. What do you wish you knew how to do but can't seem to master?  Play the piano!  I never learned and I regret it so much.

4. If you could vacation anywhere in the world, regardless of distance or cost, where would you go?  ROME!  Anywhere in Italy.  I'm dying to go to Vatican City.

5. What were the last words out of your mouth?  "Good burp Millie!"

6. What is your biggest pet peeve?  Chewed gum!  I hate when people put their gum on the side of their plate or drink cup.  Keep it in your mouth or throw it away and get a new piece.  I seriously gag everytime!

7. What is your favorite holiday and why?  Christmas!  It's the best time to be with family and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

8. What is your biggest food weakness?  Hmmm... I'd probably say french fries.  It's hard for me to resist them anywhere they are served.

"I Fly So High When You're Around, That My Feet Don't Touch the Ground"

Today's blog title is lyrics from the song that Trevor and I danced to at our wedding.  Our good friend and Texas Country singer, Stoney LaRue, wrote that song and it was only fitting that it be the anthem of our love for each other.

Now, it takes on a whole new meaning!  The picture on the left is of our little rockstar with Stoney taken at the Harley shop this afternoon.  How cute is her onesie?  It says, "I'm with the band."  I couldn't resist!  Stoney has been a great friend to Trevor and I and we've had some awesome memories together.  It was so cool to have him  meet Millie for the first time.  Her first concert was a Stoney concert when she was in the womb!

Anyway, Happy Sunday everyone.  Make sure to kiss all your loved ones and tell them how special they are to you.

Mommy's First Night Out/Comal County Parade

Tuesday, September 21st was the 16th annual "For the Love of Kids and Harleys" charity event at Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio.  For those of you who are not familiar, my husband is the event coordinator and also the secretary/treasurer for the event.  Every year he pours his heart and soul into making this a successful evening for the five local childrens' charities this event focuses on: YMCA, St. Jude's Ranch, San Antonio Sports, and Easter Seals.  It's a very big deal to me to be there to support my husband in his efforts and this year was no different.  Even though I had a baby 2.5 weeks before the event, I knew I had to find a way to be there.  Luckily, my mother and step-father were very excited to come up and babysit Millie on Tuesday evening so I could attend the event.  It was hard leaving my angel for the first time but I knew she was in amazing hands so it made it a little easier.

This year's event was very different for me than in years past.  To put it in perspective, last year we partied until 5:00 AM with our good friend Stoney LaRue who performed that evening...

...and this year I only took two pictures and was home by 10:30 to be with my daughter...

Although this year was very tame for me, I still had the time of my life.  This event is so wonderful because it brings together ALL of my friends from all over New Braunfels and San Antonio.  Not to mention my little sister came this year to hang out with me and keep me company when I had to go to my car to pump!

All in all, the charity raised over $150,000 for the charities and Trevor did an amazing job as always.  I'm so very proud of him and all the hard work he puts into this event each year!

Yesterday was Millie's three week birthday and oh what an eventful day we had!  We started it off by taking her to the Comal County parade.  I was nervous about how she would handle all the loud noise from the crowd, fire trucks, sirens, and high school marching bands but she just slept in the Moby Wrap the whole time!  She was awesome!

 Happy 3 week birthday!
Parade day with the Sniders!

Happy family

Never to Early to Visit SAKS!

Today was a great day!  Millie and I left the house on out very first outing to San Antonio.  We hit up SAKS Fifth Avenue to get a new top for me to wear to my husband's charity event tomorrow night.  Millie was such a good girl!  I must admit I was nervous about taking her out and worrying about diapers and feedings.  I did have to pull over in teh parking lot and feed her from the back seat but then we were all good!  She'll be an expert shopper in no time!!
